In addition to a synchronized skating team, MSU also has a competitive freestyle skating team. Members of the team do not have a minimum test level requirement. Skaters attend at least two intercollegiate competitions each year, competiting in the following events: compulsory program, short program, long program, team maneuvers, and solo dance. Both low and high levels of each event are available. The requirements for each of these events and all of the levels within them are available upon request. Additonal information about intercollegiate skating can be found here.
Skaters can compete for both the freestyle team and synchronized skating team each year. The freestyle team has qualified for the Intercollegiate National Figure Skating Championships for the past three years.
